Global Culture, Philosophy, and Religion – Interview with Dr. Julian Baggini

Global culture, philosophy and religion…where does one start and the other end?

    Books on culture and philosophy

On March 24, 2021 at 6:00 pm CET, I will have the opportunity to interview Dr. Julian Baggini to explore these topics.  Not only is he a best selling author, with over 25 books to his name; but, he’s also the Academic Director at the Royal Institute of Philosophy, a regular columnist for The Guardian newspaper, Prospect magazine, Financial Times and a columnist, and a book reviewer for The Wall Street Journal.  He founded The Philosophers’ Magazine and the Humanist Philosophers’ Group. And these are just a few of his notorieties!

I became a fan after picking up Julian’s book, How the World Thinks, from the bestseller’s shelf at the airport.  As a cross-cultural and intercultural trainer, I’m always looking for new insight into how people think, and this book didn’t let me down.  Using his own travel stories, he took me on a journey around the world, and through the history of philosophy.  As he debated the differences, or the similarities, between philosophy and religion; I couldn’t help but debate the difference, or similarities between philosophy and culture.  Not only was this book a well-written page-turner, but it framed each region’s philosophical tapestry, weaving in colourful themes and thought-provoking cultural details.
